"BOYS OF TROY" by THE SITUATIONALS
Music Video [#'>

Shot and edited in less than five days, this video directed by Richard O'Sullivan (who served as his own cinematographer and editor as well) and produced by Fred Hueston, follows acclaimed indie rockers The Situationals as they hit the city prior to a gig in Charlotte, North Carolina.

From their debut EP Three Song Manifesto, the song "Boys of Troy" is a driving post-punk/pop anthem with dark undertones. While referencing the lost Greek city, the tune, written by guitarist Michael Carinelli, is actually inspired by Caleb Carr's best-selling novel, The Alienist, a story about one-time New York Police Commissioner Teddy Roosevelt's quest to put away a serial killer preying on boy prostitutes.

O'Sullivan, the helmer of the feature film "Communication Breakdown," felt a kindred spirit with The Situationals. "Their musical influences were basically the bands I listened to growing up so we were totally on the same page," says the filmmaker. "I've always wanted to do a video that captured that old school MTV style, but without sacrificing the freshness and vitality of the artists themselves, so The Situationals were the perfect band to try this with."

The Situationals are fronted by magnetic lead singer Candice Bassett. Joining Carinelli on guitar and bass are Kelly Morse and Bryan Askew (the three trade off instruments depending on the song). The always unpredictable Tim Poole replaced Shane Human on drums following the recording of the EP and bangs the skins in the clip.
