This is the day after winning BEST IN SHOW & $500 for our 1st Cosplay Competition (costume/performance) at Houston's Anime Matsuri held at the George R Brown Convention Ctr-- and was it packed! Won for our rendition of the characters Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop--which soon became our most popular cosplay ever! At this convention we also competed & won a second competition!! :D Anime conventions started in Japan based on their tv cartoon and manga series. In Texas over a 3-4 day convention there could be as many as 5,000 to 30,000 in attendance with standing room only at a cosplay show like this one. A worldwide phenomenon based on costume play (thus cos-play), this was Shoeless Cosplay's (Alissa & Daniel team) 1st competition at a convention. Musical theater performers originally, the Shoeless team sought to bring characters to life on stage-- thru performance and not just costuming. They went on to consistently raise the bar and win many awards at conventions. Shoeless gained professional cosplay status quickly and has judged as well as taught workshops on acting, script writing, and voice overs at US conventions!! YAY US!
