Description:

An unlisted video from Toyohashi.tv, of the Nagashino Battle Climbing Festival, at the Nagashino Castle grounds, in Japan on 5 May 2011.

The video shows the firing of arquebus (a musket-like firearm) in historical combat re-enactments, traditional masked drummers, a parade with a brass band, smoke being let off in the castle grounds, people in period costumes chopping bamboo with samurai swords, dancers, and men shooting arrows from bows.

Nagashino Castle was a Sengoku period Japanese castle located in what is now Shinshiro, eastern Aichi Prefecture, Japan; and was the site of the crucial Battle of Nagashino (1575) which was between the combined forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu and Oda Nobunaga, against Takeda Katsuyori. The castle was built in 1508 and demolished in 1576. Today, the castle remnants and grounds are a protected national historic landmark.

Toyohashi.tv is a website / online regional TV channel that produces videos about the Japanese city of Toyohashi, in the Aichi Prefecture.
