The simple truth is that for any active individual training to gain size, a moderate amount of cardio will NOT burn your muscle.

In fact I think there are a variety of benefits to doing cardio on a regular basis. I`m not saying run a marathon, I only like cardio that assists in athletic performance or keeping or building muscle. I`m talking sprints, High Intensity Interval Training, Prowler Work, Kettlebells, Sledgehammer slams, Hill Sprints. Incorporating some intense cardio can help you maintain a lower bodyfat while building size.

Here are the rules, if you are lean, have been lean and you have a hard time building size, you can totally skip out on cardio as it'll only make it harder to build size.

For most normal people that are in decent shape, light cardio post-workout is a great way to better partition nutrients. I'm talking light activity a couple times a week. Nothing excessive, but you want to make sure your cardiovascular system is always functioning. 10-15 minutes post-workout of light cardio.

For endomorphs and those who struggle to be lean when gaining size I'd recommend more intense cardio several times a week. This is where those hill sprints, kettlebell work and other conditioning work come in. I`d dedicate one day a week to

In fact there have been studies that have shown a moderate amount of cardio can improve blood flow in the body and can actually assist in building muscle. If you think cardio is sissy, look at sprinters and running backs and tell me they don`t have awesome physiques.

How much cardio do you do when you are building muscle? Personally for my lean muscle phase coming up, I plan on doing a whole bunch of prowler work. Lift heavy shit. Rinse and repeat. UNTIL NEXT TIME!
