Happy Birthday, New Left Media!

In July 2021, YouTube set all unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 to private (unless the channel owner had opted out). In the weeks leading up to this change, Archive Team archived many pre-2017 unlisted YouTube videos. If this video was uploaded before 2017 and has gone private, there is a chance that a 360p archived version can be viewed on archive.org via the site's Wayback Machine as follows:

1. Enter the YouTube URL in the Wayback Machine form or click on the following link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20210000000000*/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8nKDkpdtM0

2. Right-click on a blue entry in July in the calendar.

3. Click 'Copy link address'.

4. Paste the copied link address into your web browser's address bar and press enter.

We are a two-person documentary production team working out of Yellow Springs, Ohio. Since starting in September 2009, in response to the raucous healthcare townhalls that threatened to derail healthcare reform, our short films have been seen online more than five-million times, and have been featured in whole or in part by the BBC, Bill Moyers' Show, The Ed Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, CurrentTV, GRITv, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Air America, The Nation, Andrew Sullivan, Dan Savage, Roger Ebert's Journal, Daily Kos and The Daily Show's Indecision Blog, among others.

We want to continue making progressive documentaries, and continue investigating the rise of Tea Party movement and its particular brand of paranoid and conspiratorial libertarianism. In the past year, we've also covered the fight for marriage equality in Maine, the National Equality March, and have been working on a longer series about the need for comprehensive immigration reform. But as full-time students, the significant production costs can be prohibitive. In our first year, we had to borrow a small amount of money to produce our films and to procure some equipment that was needed. This year, we will be losing our access to university equipment, resulting in increased production costs. If we are unable to find a revenue source, we might not be able to continue independently producing short documentary films.

The money will be used for equipment expenses, particularly to replace those items which were previously provided by our university, and toward the production of future videos. In the coming year, we hope to produce more substantial pieces similar to our coverage of the NO ON ONE campaign in Maine.
We understand that not everyone has money to give. If this is the case, you can still help us spread the message by sharing this page with friends you think might be able to help. If you are able to give a donation, we can't tell you how much we appreciate. For what we cannot pay out-of-pocket, we rely on the donations of our viewers. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in keeping us online.
