VIEWER OBJECTION: Helicopter Tree Trimming Is Too DANGEROUS

Meet the Helicopter Tree Sawing Crew Jarrod Kolakowski and Jed Hughes! I first filmed these guys working together over two years ago. It was even more fun the second trip to see these guys work and capture the behind the scenes story!

Kenny: People do not have a clue how much time and effort everybody puts in to make sure everyone is safe.

Tim: Safety is number 1! All of our guys on the ground have radios, we have constant communication. The planning of these jobs start weeks in advance. We have guys out there walking every bit of the line, looking for deer stands, fence rows, anything like that. We mark off any hazards. We mark those on the map and then Jed knows about them before pre flight. We're on the radios reminding him about them over and over again.

We always plan around hunting season. Safety is always number 1. We want our guys getting home to their families. We cover a lot of ground. All in a day's work. It feels good when everyone gets along and things go good. The whole plan comes together.

Jed: It is safe. We make it as safe as we can. It's more dangerous for us driving to work than flying this helicopter every day. You've got a lot of people down here on the ground. Up in the air we'll work the safe zone, wants everything is taken care of, I'll get out of there and let the guys clean the roads up, and then we can let traffic get through.

Some things do happen, it's gonna happen. A whole tree may snap and then wires go down. That Emerald Ash borer is causing a lot of that right now with the dead ash trees. That's why we don't put climbers in those trees. The only way we do that is with the helicopter. We are safe, I mean I'm telling you people, it's safe.
