Why Youtube Censorship Is POSITIVE

In July 2021, YouTube set all unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 to private (unless the channel owner had opted out). In the weeks leading up to this change, Archive Team archived many pre-2017 unlisted YouTube videos. If this video was uploaded before 2017 and has gone private, there is a chance that a 360p archived version can be viewed on archive.org via the site's Wayback Machine as follows:

1. Enter the YouTube URL in the Wayback Machine form or click on the following link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20210000000000*/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeaY9mBuJFs

2. Right-click on a blue entry in July in the calendar.

3. Click 'Copy link address'.

4. Paste the copied link address into your web browser's address bar and press enter.

Firstly, not serious no. This is a joke. Secondly, as some of you rightly pointed out, I trailed off a bit in that sign off, little hyperbolic obviously. Of course YouTube are not actually being oppressive, dictionary won’t allow, they are a private company and can do and implement whatever they please within the law. They don't have to pay anyone, totally fair enough. However I think this is more a matter of intellectual honesty and common sense. Those of you able to read between the lines a little bit, will understand this policy is going to reshape the face of YouTube and heavily discourage speaking about controversial topics. Which is exactly the opposite of what is needed at the moment. It is governments that oppress but with our current democratic set up, this company, along with many others, are now bigger than most governments and have more influence. So in my opinion, have an implied social responsibility because of the sheer magnitude of that power. Also, some people are trying to suggest that business influence doesn’t affect government… I seriously refute you understand politics at all. Or human nature for that matter. If you don’t think media and the ruling class talk, you live in a blissful slumber that frankly i envy.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love YouTube, they gave me the camera I filmed this on. They are awesome. Everything fun I have done in media has been because of them. It is a pillar of 21st Century free speech which is exactly why we should protect it and which is why I got a little flapped defending it. I love it so much. Hence the anger. Like an ambivalent love affair. If they were equal with the rules and if they applied to everyone then it would be fair enough. They don’t, it’s not. This is a tactical silencing of very specific content. Make no mistake. Otherwise youtube would have implemented a measure to flag sensitive material and give advertisers the option of omitting sensitive material in their campaign. Done. Everyone’s happy, youtube remains diverse. Advertisers not minding association with adult content can sack off this option and youtube can make more money. It’s not even a lucrative decision. We’re likely witnessing a carefully rolled out, politically motivated restructuring. I’m sorry but it’s obvious. Prove me wrong @OllieFirrell I’m very open to contrary evidence.

Love the YouTube where I live but hate the people in charge, speaking is hard, when you got strings attached. So I’ma say it for you cos I don’t got none of that.

but don’t listen to me, I don’t fucking know!! I’m just trying to make people laugh mainly. Don’t take me too seriously cats and kittens, I’m not even wearing any trousers.
