Komi had always wanted to try short hair but her anxiety had kept her from doing it. She had toyed with the idea for for awhile, but the thought of her actually going through with it and what others would think or say filled her with dread so she kept it to herself for a while.
But one day, Komi summoned the courage to express her desire. She made her way to find tando during break she scribbled in her notebook "I want my hair cut short," and showed it to Tadano. He looked surprised but gave her an encouraging smile. Later that day, they met up and head to Tadano's house, and Komi nervously shows him a picture of a bob cut that she had found online. Even though she couldn't speak, Tadano seemed to understand what she wanted and used her hands to show him how short she wanted her hair. When Tadano finished, Komi couldn't believe her reflection in the mirror. she loved it initially but her anxiety got the better of her as she imagined what her classmates would say and thought she'd look weird. Tadano could see the panic in her eyes, and he took her hand which made her felt better. Even though she felt exposed and vulnerable, she was grateful to him for helping her try something new.
