Senior Corporal Victor Lozada funeral procession

Here are some images and video of the funeral for City of Dallas Police officer Senior Corporal Victor Lozada. The 49-year-old officer died on February 22nd, 2008 when his motorcycle hit a curb while escorting Senator Hillary Clinton's motorcade in Dallas. The funeral service was on February 29, 2008 and it was estimated that 4500 people attended the service at Prestonwood Baptist church in Plano, TX including Senator Hillary Clinton. Police department motorcycles, vehicles and officers from all over the state of Texas showed up. Some from as far as Houston, San Antonio, Galveston, Odessa, Longview, Anna, Tyler, San Angelo and many more I did not see; including motorcycles from other states, Baltimore, New Orleans and Orange County (Fla.) all came to pay their respects.

The funeral service and motorcade was reported to be the most attended in North Texas. As you can see the freeway was shut down and many stopped along the way to pay their respects. Texas DPS Trooper, Plano, Richardson, Dallas County Courtesy Patrol, DART and even local tow trucks all did an excellent job closing the freeway. You can see the DPS Troopers close Highway 75 with the Crown Vic's blocking all lanes, I have heard of them doing this, but never seen it. They caught one driver trying to bypass the block in the grass just as I drove by, that is something like a $200 ticket. At one point Highway 75 north bound in Richardson was at a complete stop, even though the procession was south bound. Many Fire departments displayed their supported on the over passes as you will see, they included; Plano, Richardson and finally Dallas at the entrance to Restland Cemetery in Dallas with a large US Flag between the ladders of two hook and ladder trucks.
