Description:

The power of two million candles transformed landmark Winthrop Hall into a kaleidoscope of colour and sound on Friday evening (Feb 8) for UWA LUMINOUSnight, a public celebration of art and culture to launch The University of Western Australia's 2013 Centenary year.

The 20-minute spectacular LUMINOUShall light show was made possible by ten specially imported projectors - each ten times more powerful than an outdoor cinema - cast a feast of animated story-telling imagery onto Winthrop Hall's landmark north façade.

Computer-driven, multi beam projections created by Illuminart Co-Director Cindi Drennan highlighted key moments and leading characters from the University's 100-year history, with stunning colour imagery of UWA's iconic peacocks and a soundtrack of narration and tracks from UWA's Centenary music CD.
