Description: A comparison between different versions of CD Legendary Recordings LR008 where you can listen to excerpts highlighting the differences between the original unrestored audio, remastered mono and remastered simulated stereo. Antonín Dvorák (1841 - 1904) Piano Concerto in G minor Op. 33 (Vilém Kurz edition of 1919) 1. Allegro agitato [19:34'> 2. Andante sostenuto [8:16'> 3. Finale. Allegro con fuoco [10:55'> Recorded 1-3 November 1951, Rudolfinum Studio, Prague Cello Concerto in B minor Op. 104 4. Allegro [14:58'> 5. Adagio ma non troppo [11:16'> 6. Finale. Allegro moderato [13:00'> Recorded 16-18 June 1952, Rudolfinum Studio, Prague František Maxián, piano Mstislav Rostropovich, cello Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Conducted by Václav Talich Both recordings had been processed under heavy handed noise reduction which I was unable to remove. The result is a recording lacking in natural ambience. Apart from this I was able to extract quite fine sound. Dvorák's Piano Concerto is a criminally underrated masterwork that deserves a much wider audience, and I am very happy to be able to present it here with a fine performance by František Maxián alongside the well known and great B minor Cello Concerto performed splendidly by Mstislav Rostropovich.
