Description: The police in Japan and Tokyo often report that the crime by foreigners, gaijin crime, is very high in Japan. Sometimes it's even shown like foreigners are the main culprits of all the crime in Japan. But is it true? "The former head of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Emergency Public Safety Task Force, Hiroshi Kubo, published a book disputing foreign crime statistics, suggesting that such statistics were being manipulated by politicians for political gain. He suggested, for example, that including visa violations in crime statistics is misleading. He also said that the crime rate in Tokyo is based on reported rather than actual crimes." Many times statistics are distorted to make foreigners appear to do more crime than they do. Did you know that over 50% of the reported gaijin crime, is merely visa violations?
