"So You Want to Play Goldberg Variations?"

In July 2021, YouTube set all unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 to private (unless the channel owner had opted out). In the weeks leading up to this change, Archive Team archived many pre-2017 unlisted YouTube videos. If this video was uploaded before 2017 and has gone private, there is a chance that a 360p archived version can be viewed on archive.org via the site's Wayback Machine as follows:

1. Enter the YouTube URL in the Wayback Machine form or click on the following link:

Spoken video text for online translators:

Hi, I'm Paul, this short introduction video is to let you know about my piano tutorial series on Bach's Goldberg Variations.

Goldberg Variations, was written for a 2 manual harpsichord. If you like this work, tried to play through it, got your hands in knots and put the score back on the shelf, then this tutorial series is for you. The aim is to unknot the Goldberg making it more comfortable to play on a modern piano or keyboard.

The tutorial series mainly offers alternative note re-groupings for sections the fingers can get into a muddle and my suggested hand-written note re-groupings feature in each video. We also look together at various ways to interpret each variation, principally fingering, voicing and tempo.

At the end of the project, a limited edition double CD of Goldberg Variations made for FEURICH pianos played with the Harmonic Pedal in 2 different ways will be available, along with my home-produced Goldberg Variations score with all the hand written note re-groupings and fingering suggestions featured in this tutorial series. Both CD and score will be available for a limited time, details of cost and shipping to your country will be posted on my facebook piano page at a later date.

So, if you want to play the Goldberg Variations and looking for tips, this tutorial series will be posted to the "Bach Goldberg Variations" playlist which you can subscribe to, and also my piano facebook page, linked below.

Hope to see you in Variation 1.
