Shotgun Patterning

In July 2021, YouTube set all unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 to private (unless the channel owner had opted out). In the weeks leading up to this change, Archive Team archived many pre-2017 unlisted YouTube videos. If this video was uploaded before 2017 and has gone private, there is a chance that a 360p archived version can be viewed on archive.org via the site's Wayback Machine as follows:

1. Enter the YouTube URL in the Wayback Machine form or click on the following link:

One of the things I like best about shooting a shotgun is that you don't really have to aim...just point and shoot. Whether you hit what you're shooting at depends on how well you did your homework. "Patterning" your shotgun allows you to choose exactly the right brand of shells, size and type of shot and type of choke required for the game you're purusing.Set yourself up 40 yards from a 30-inch circle target, and bring along several brands of shells in various shot sizes. Use some form of rest like sandbags on a table or a rolled up sleeping bag to help steady the shotgun. You must hold the gun and point it at the target exactly the same way every time you fire.If I'm getting ready for turkey season, I'll need a close, uniform pattern for a good clean kill...because I know I'm not going to be able to get near one of those big gobblers. So I'm looking for about 70% of the shot to hit within the circle. After some trial and error, I know that I need to use full choke, number 6 lead shot, and even a brand that worked best. Now all I need is a clear shot at that turkey!
