It went out of production in 1982, and then was reissued in 1990, and has been around ever since. The Mustang has that signature short scale offset body, making it ideal for energetic performers, and two single coil pickups with volume controls for each. In the 1990s the Mustang accrued a cult following as the guitar used by a number of Alt Rock legends like Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth.
