Description:

Have you ever been on the trail and wanted to sit down, but there were no comfortable rocks or tree stumps? If you have rope or paracord, you could make a comfortable hammock chair in a few minutes. When making the chair, the rope is not cut and you can easily reuse it anytime by simply un-tieing the chair. The chair is held together with only 2 knots. AMAZINGLY SIMPLE DESIGN!

The following supplies are needed:
50 feet of rope (strong enough to support your weight)
6 feet of string or fishing line
2 sticks, each about 1-1/2 feet long matches or lighter
knife

First melt the ends of the rope with your matches/lighter, so they don't unravel. Then take one arm length of rope and use it as your starting point. From this point, divide the remaining rope in half; and then fold it in half again; and again. There should be a total of eight pieces of rope in your bundle. Release the last piece of rope. This will be your second end. Tie an overhand knot at each end of the bundle.

Now comes the fun part: carving notches in the sticks. Starting about 2 inches (5 cm) from the end of each stick, carve a notch every 1-1/2 inches. There should be a total of 7 notches in each stick.

After the notches are completed, wrap the rope around each stick, so that the sticks are approximately 2 feet apart. To secure the rope, take approximately 3 feet of string and tie it to the first notch. Wrap the string around stick and rope, so that each rope loop is tightly secured; then proceed to the second notch, wrap the string and tie with a overhand knot. Proceed until all notches are tied. Complete the same process on both sticks.

Your chair is complete!
