Northern Sami (Davvisámegiella) Native to: Norway, Sweden, Finland Native speakers: (ca. 25,000 cited 1992–2013Gp Language family: Uralic Northern or North Sami (davvisámegiella; disapproved exonym Lappish or Lapp), sometimes also simply referred to as Sami, is the most widely spoken of all Sami languages. The area where Northern Sami is spoken covers the northern parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland. The number of Northern Sami speakers is estimated to be somewhere between 15,000 and 25,000.
